Marvin Castellón Ubilla: his participation in the protests led to charges of a common crime
Marvin Castellón Ubilla has been in the prisons of the Daniel Ortega regime on two occasions: the first when he was captured along with his brother Marlon and his father for participating in the April 2018 protests. He was released in 2019 along with his relatives and the family cohabitation regime was imposed, but later the two brothers were recaptured months later.
Marlon Castellón Ubilla was released, but his brother Marvin was arrested and charged with the alleged theft of a cell phone for which he is serving a 14-year prison sentence.
His family had to suffer constant siege since 2018, his brother Marlon and 12 other members had to leave Nicaragua in February 2021 for fear of being imprisoned by the Ortega regime.
The family left in a caravan with Marlon’s wife, his 7-year-old daughter, two of his sisters with children between the ages of 3 and 5 months, and six other relatives between the ages of 11 and 55.
The family left Nicaragua at the request of his mother, invaded by the fear that they could recapture Marlon, after seeing how months before, the Ortega regime had resumed the capture of opponents in the country.
On February 15, 2022, the IACHR granted precautionary measures in favor of Ubilla and 22 other political prisoners, but the regime has not been able to comply with them.
