Edgar Antonio Ayala, the father of the family, a graphic designer.

Edgar Antonio Ayala, 37 years old, is originally from Managua and is the father of a six-year-old boy. Before being deprived of his freedom he worked as a graphic designer.

He was arrested on November 18, 2018, along with his cousin Michael Caballero Ayala, a former policeman who had refused to repress people exercising their right to protest, who is also a political prisoner. Both were detained by police officers of the Directorate of Special Operations (DOEP). The Police through communiqué 14-2018 stated that upon detaining them while they were circulating on board a motorcycle in the sector of the traffic lights of the Managua Shopping Center, they found firearms in their possession.

After being arbitrarily detained, his relatives did not receive any information about the cause of his detention nor information about the place where he was being held. It was not until three days later that it was known that he was detained in the 2nd Police District in Managua, being later transferred to the former Judicial Aid Office known as “El Chipote”.

Edgar is currently in the Penitentiary System “La Modelo” in Tipitapa.

Edgar Antonio Ayala, was subjected by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Judiciary to a criminal process full of nullities being accused of the crimes of Murder and Serious Injuries. He is currently serving an unjust sentence of 22 years and 6 months.
