Jaqueline Rodríguez: imprisoned under inhumane conditions
On April 22, 2023, in a police raid against anyone perceived as an opponent in Nicaragua, Jaqueline Rodríguez, 35 years old, was detained and subsequently sent to the Women’s Prison System “La Esperanza”, where she is forced to remain in inhumane conditions, in a maximum security cell.
Rodríguez, originally from Jinotega, is an accountant by profession, she did not commit any crime, and according to a publication made on social networks by the former politician Iván Irías, she and her husband, Sergio Castilblanco, were detained for having a blue and white flag.
It was Irías himself who denounced that Jaqueline is being held in inhumane conditions in “La Esperanza” prison.
Due to this situation, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), granted precautionary measures to Jaqueline and 8 other people arbitrarily detained for political reasons, considering that they are in a serious situation.
Freedom for Jaqueline Rodríguez!
