Jasson Salazar: Arrested During Massive Raids Against Opponents

It was 13 days before Nicaragua commemorated the fifth anniversary of the protests that began April 18, 2018, which were violently repressed leaving 355 lethal victims and more than 2,000 people injured.

Jasson Salazar, a 26-year-old young man who is part of the April 19 University Movement, was taken from his home on April 4 of this year, by at least some 20 officers in the service of the regime, who also took belongings from him and his family.

The police did not provide information on the reasons for his arrest, however, on April 13, the University Movement denounced on social networks that a special hearing had been held on April 5, one day after his arrest, and he was placed under the order of the Fifth Court of Managua.

On May 19, the April 19 Movement reported on its social networks that Jasson was subjected to a preliminary hearing in which he was accused of cybercrimes and treason.

In the same complaint, the youth organization also reported that he has not been allowed family visits and is being held, along with other people, in the cells of District 3 of Managua.

Jasson Salazar has not committed any crime.

Freedom for Jasson Salazar!

We demand of the Ortega-Murillo regime: NicasLibresya!
