Oscar Enmanuel Centeno, the rescuer of the injured in the roadblocks of León
Oscar Enmanuel Centeno, 29, is originally from León. He actively participated in the roadblocks in León, in the civic protests starting in April 2018. Oscar Enmanuel attended, as a lifeguard, to those injured in the roadblocks. He transported them aboard a motorcycle to clandestine medical posts.
Oscar Enmanuel, was arbitrarily detained on May 4, 2020 and was accused by the Public Ministry for the crime of possession of narcotics, psychotropics and other controlled substances.
While he was in prison they delayed the delivery of food brought by his relatives, on other occasions they did not even give it to him. He was subjected to torture, hitting him on the body with the aim of making him give information about other people.
Oscar Enmanuel was released on July 15, 2020 under the family coexistence regime. Upon leaving prison, he demanded that his physical and psychological integrity be guaranteed, as well as that of his family.
While he was free he continued to be harassed by paramilitaries on motorcycles that came to his house. He was arbitrarily imprisoned for the third time by the police on January 7, 2021 along with two young people in the sector known as “La Hielera” in León.
He is serving an unjust sentence in the Chinandega Penitentiary System.
